Horizontal metal band saw with a pivoting arm enables cutting in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the material as well as at any angle within a range from 0 to 60°. The drive from the electric motor to the drive wheel of the saw band is transmitted via a MECHANICAL gearbox (not belt-driven). The saw blade is tensioned between two cast iron wheels using a manual tensioner and guided through a set of bearing-mounted rollers.

Material to be cut can be fed manually or by any mechanical device, while the feed of the tool occurs by gravity, based on the flow of oil in a two-chamber hydraulic cylinder. The appropriate lowering speed of the arm is achieved thanks to a valve regulating the oil flow between the chambers. The blade guides are equipped with a set of bearing-mounted rollers. This has a significant impact on blade tracking, blade lifespan, cutting precision, and cutting quality.

The rigid arm is made of PROFILED CAST IRON. The control panel is mounted near the arm.

The base is constructed as a rigid body welded from steel sheets. Inside, there is a separate coolant tank with an electric pump. The upper part of the base is shaped as a tray for coolant drainage and to collect chips generated during material cutting. A cast iron worktable with a pivoting arm and a control panel on a separate arm is attached to the base. During cutting, the main cutting motion is provided by the movement of the saw blade, and the feed motion by the arm’s descent. The speed of the arm’s descent (cutting speed) is regulated via the hydraulic cylinder.

When the arm is in its lowest position (after cutting the material), the saw blade drive is automatically switched off. Safety is ensured by blade covers and micro-switches that stop the motor at the end of the cutting cycle or if any cover is opened. Additional protection consists of the automatic shutdown of the saw in case the blade breaks.
